For what it is worth, I am back. LOL

Let's see. Saturday. Beautiful day. The sun was shining I was ready and Pat was slow. LOL Packed once then repacked to a lighter bag. Then we were off!

From Blue Ridge vacation

On our way to the Blue Ridge Parkway. 5 days of camping out and riding the motorcycle. We did not make it as far as I hoped the first day. I forgot that Pat was a 5 miler. Go 5 miles and stop. I am just kidding. But I swear that man stopped so many times I was afraid we would not even make it to North Carolina the first day! It was a beautiful ride. We took the scenic route. LOL One of the first places we saw was the Occoe.

Great white water rafting there so I have been told. You would not get me in one of those rafts or a kayak! We saw where the Olympics held the white water events when it was in Atlanta.
Finally we arrived in North Carolina. We passed the road that leads to the Dragon's Tail, US 129. This is a trip we plan in the future. In Andrews, NC we pass a Harley Shop we just had to stop to see. How about that for a bike? Daylight is quickly going and we have miles to go. We get to Bryson City just outside of Cherokee and decided to find a campsite.

There we set up camp and the fun began! LOL As we unpacked we found that 1 small bag had been left out. The one that held our utensils! Luckily that was not too big of a problem. We found a couple forks packed away but no can opener so no chili on the hot dogs. The campground was right on the river.

It was also right on the highway so the sounds of loud motorcycles roared until late at night.
The next morning dawned early. We were up before daylight and started getting breakfast fixed and breaking down camp. Remember I am with pokey. 4 hours later we are on our way. Finally we get on the Parkway!
The mountains are beautiful! I recommend going there at least once in your life. We got to the highest point on the Parkway and had to take our picture!

In Asheville the fun began. Part of the Parkway was closed due to rock slides so we were detoured to the interstate for our next leg of the trip. We were headed to Linville Falls where we were going to stay for a day or 2. This section of the interstate is scary to me. We were going to ride down Black Mountain.

I hate that. It is a steep grade. Lots of wrecks have happened on that mountain.
As it was that was our last ride. Shortly after getting to the bottom Pat pulled over. We had a tire going flat. Sunday, a holiday weekend, on the side of an interstate. Not what I wanted to do! After an hour or so a police officer stopped. It seems someone called in a wreck with dead bodies! Stupid! At that time we were waiting on our ride. We knew we had a long wait! Luckily we had a deck of cards. Pat found out that I am a killer in Gin and poker! LOL What gets me is NO ONE stopped! Seven hours on the side of the road and no one stopped. Also no police other than that first one. I could not believe it. Seven hours and no troupers! The first cop was a city cop! I was disappointed in our fellow bikers. At least 200 went by and no one stopped.
So our trip was cut short and once again a major expense incurred. $300 in gas for the tow home. $200 for a new tire. Ugh . Might be last vacation for a long while!

I need a box for my head. 5 days of hurting is enough. I hate insurance, I hate doctors, I hate anything medical right now. Actually I always had. It is a miracle I got into the medical field to make a living. Stupid.

Last week I was bit by a brown recluse spider. The doctor says that my headache is due to the poison in my system. I wonder. Right about 3 weeks ago I fell off the porch and knocked myself out. He said we will wait and see if the medicine works. Could be dead by then.

Next grip. The medicine he prescribed for me has to be pre approved by insurance company! Here we go again, the insurance company telling Doctors how to do their job.

Next grip. The pharmacy waited until doctor's office was closed before faxing the stuff to the doctor's office and expected me to pay full price for the medicine. So now I STILL do not have the medicine I need.

My legs hurt. It was just 1 leg hurting( was bit on the back of my leg) Tonight both legs hurt. My inguinal lymph nodes are swollen. It feels as if there are bruises on my legs. My legs is swollen. My head hurts. I feel like I am dying.

still going

Like the pink bunny, I am still going and going and going. Somehow I manage to take what life throws at me.

We got the tractor back going again. It does not run great but it goes for awhile anyway. I can handle 30 minutes at a time. If I can do that at least twice a day I will get this place cut in the next 2 weeks. We are in desperate need of rain. The grass is dry and crunchy. Even the weeds are thirsty! You know it is bad when you run over a fire ant hill and it has been abandoned! I have been running over a lot of hills. I keep ducking for fear of getting a bunch of ants thrown on my back by the brush hog.

Life sure can throw curve balls. Good thing, or maybe it is a bad thing, I am good at catching them. I guess if I catch them then maybe nobody else will.

Things with Pat are slowly working themselves out. As for Brook, I get to see her on Tae Kwon Do days. This week she snuck out and we went to the store and ate dinner. I don't think her mama was very happy about that but so what. Brook was willing to take the chance. To0morrow I actually get to take her to the dentist. Poor thing has a tooth coming in wrong. It is busting through the gums above the gumline and the other toth is still there and NOT loose. It looks as if the same thing is about to happen on the other side also.

Pictures. I have none. It seems I have misplaced my cable to download them, AGAIN.

I am working on getting back into the rythmn of things again. I hope to be blogging more and still getting my work done! LOL

Riding alone

I wonder why riding the tractor always makes me feel good? It is relaxing for me. Today I got to get out and do some cutting. I did not get to yesterday because silly me left the switch on and drained the battery dead. I finished the front field and started on the side field. That one will be slow cutting. The weeds are taller than the tractor. With the clutch slipping some I cannot take a full 5 foot cut or it will bog down and quit or break a sheer pin. I would like to get it all done before September gets here. The weather starts cooling off again then and grass will grow. It effects how much hay I use in the winter and how soon I start feeding hay. In a good winter I do not have to start feeding hay until late November or December.
I like riding the tractor. You see all kinds of critters. Today all I saw were a few snakes and rats. Who knows what I will see tomorrow. I will take my camera with me tomorrow.

I had a bad dream last night. I dreamed I was in a hospital and died... alone. I watched them take me away and no one cried because no one was there. Next thing I am at the funeral home in the casket. I could see myself there in the coffin. There were no flowers. I am in the chapel and no one is there except the funeral home people. I look out into the sanctuary and only 1 person is there and it is me. My ghost was the only one that came to say goodbye.

I am not sure how things with Pat will turn out. Someone stated that maybe she does not have as big a pull as I think so because after all, he is still here with me. There is nothing to stop him from leaving or making me leave. So life goes on.
Things have been changing around here in the cat department. Little Bit had her babies inside and they, of course, survived. They are gone now. Brook had both of the babies with her. Susie has been upset quite a bit lately. She lost her babies before due date. Now she is smacking all the cats. She does not want to stay inside anymore. Smokey has become a loving little boy. Well maybe not so little anymore. Tiger , his brother is slowing joining the wild side. Big Yellow is ready to move inside as always. He is starting to take better care of his personal grooming habits lately. Johnny is as quiet as ever. I never see him fighting. The fighters are Blackie and Big Yellow. They are battling for head cat. I have news for them, Buddy is head cat. In case of fire he will be the first out. I like all my cats but I love Buddy.

Life sure has its own way of thumping you in the head or kicking you in the ass, whichever way you look at it. The twists and turns are almost like riding a bucking horse. One second you think you will last to the bell and the next second you are flying thru the air.
Things seem to be on an even keel here right now. I am pulling myself by the bootstraps and trying to keep the faith. Tomorrow is our 15th anniversary. I don't expect any remembrance of it. Actually, I do expect it but I doubt that it will happen.

I still have a cell phone. I just reactivated my old one. Nothing wrong with it and I can hear it ring, unlike my new one that broke. At least I can hear it when and if someone calls me.
I am proud of myself. I have not had any dirty clothes for 2 weeks now. Every morning and night I put the dirty clothes in the washer. When it is full I start it. I have also been keeping the sink cleared out. Amazing at what you do when you have no one to talk to.What it is is if I leave here, dead or alive, I have decided that no one will be able to say that the house is not clean. I have been working on getting it in order. I need order in my life right now.
Precious is doing good.
Brook is doing good.
I do not think of dying all the time now.

What a miserable weekend. I tell you, I have the letter L in big red letters tattooed on my forehead!
Friday things fell apart. For some reason everything I said or did was wrong. That night while burning garbage I fell off the steps and hit my head and bruised my shoulder and head. I think I may have been knocked out for a minute or 2 because the next thing I know is I hear Pat's truck pulling up. He helped me into the house. He said at first he thought I was just pulling something stupid but then saw the broken step.
Saturday started out peaceful enough. It did not take long for an uncomfortable silence to be followed by an uncomfortable roar. What an expensive day. $600 worth of cell phones destroyed. That night to bed with a truce called.
The next day started out fairly well with some remorse. Things were actually looking better, at least sounding better with no phones ringing. Looking out the window I see the horses in the field. Precious is laying down. I looked and felt funny about it in my stomach. I quickly pulled some clothes on and went outside and called the horses. All came except Precious. She was sitting up but making no effort to come to me. I walked out to her and knew(actually I already knew) that she was in trouble. I then knew I was in trouble. The heat index was 104 degrees with actual temperature at 98 degrees. I had just looked at the weather map to check for rain. Anyway, it was bad. She was drenched in sweat. It took a few minutes of urging but she did get up. She walked over and started to lay down again but I knew that she could not do that. I hearded her to the barn and over by the water trough. I then ran out and turned the water on. I ran back in and she was down again. She got up for me with no trouble out of her. I had teh halter o and a rope by then. I hosed her down in hopes that it was simple heat exhaustion. I then led her out of the pasture and up to the hitching post. I ran in the house hollaring at Pat that Precious was down. I needed to put different shoes on because sandels were no good for what I was about to do, walk and walk alot. pat got dressed to come out to help me but I knew he would not be a lot of help. The extreme heat was not good for his asthma. He left to go get help but something happened up there that was not good. After an hour of making Precious walk I finally got some help but not before stepping inbetween a fight. I wanted to knock them both in the head. brook walked with me and it was a good thing. The heat got to me and I went down. Heat exhaustion was getting me and Precious still had not passed gas or poop. Me going down got everybody's attention and I got help. We kept hosing Precious down and finally she took some water. She started passing some gas. 4 hours after the first walking started Precious was trying to eat and was swatting at flies. Crisis averted.
With all that walking and sweating you would think I would have lost weight. NOT. I am at 179 and holding.
Pat and I are working things out. No guareentee of everything working out that we stay together but I am hopeful. Never will it be said I did not give it my best shot. I am hoping he will do the same. I have to trust that he is. Trust is so hard to give once broken but I am trying.

I have been feeling very blue lately. Life just has not been going the way I thought it would. At age 49 I thought that I would be settled and where I was going to be for the rest of my life. Now I am not sure. Funny how nothing turns out the way you expect. I am working on getting things worked out. I am where I want to be and who I want to be with... but is he? Someone said something to me about velvet chains. I looked up the lyrics to the song as it has been a long time since I have heard it. I know I have been so wrong in so many areas in my life. I know that , I pray that we stay together and finish growing old together.

Today is blah. Been alone all day it seems. Brook is in Florida and I am here all alone. The rest of the week will be like this.

My Buddy thinks he is suppose to lay on the mouse pad in front of the computer when I am online. He is suppose to get all of my attention! LOL

The weekend went mostly good. Friday we rode the bike for a couple hours and headed out to fireworks. We did not stay and just went home. We got to see many firework displays from the house without the smoke.

Saturday evening things started falling apart. Sunday was for the birds. Monday was not much better. Today is better. I know there will be ups and downs. I am counting on more ups than downs.

On a positive note I have lost down from 198 on June 1 to 185 today. I will take whatever small things that I can find in a day.

I have 8 baby chicks running around the yard right now. My little red hen is setting a nest now. I am not sure how many she has under her.

Ok I am out of here right now. I need to get busy. I have a goal to reach with my cleaning and I cannot do it sitting here. Love you all.

Life is better today. Mainly because I decided to fight. I have always kind of laid down the banner so to speak in the past and just gave up. Not so this time. I may not win the war but I have won this battle. I have extreme problems with self confidence and so I always see myself as the loser. Some people will think I am stupid to fight this was but I don't. I know some people are very confused as to what it is I am fighting. If you want to know I will tell you in private.

We may have the problem fixed with the tractor. with one small problem still on going. Cliff might be able to help with this one. What is the best way to fix a small pinhole leak in the gas tank? It is a Farmall Super C.

Gas prices seem to have stabilized around here lately. It has been holding steady at around $3.87 a gallon. I told Pat the other day that I do not believe it will matter who gets in as president the gas prices will not be going down. He goes on that they need to do what they did back in the 70's with the oil embargo. Sure why not, gas prices did not go down then nor will they now. Our dependence on gas has to break. As long as cars get low mileage we are screwed. The American automakers fight raising mandatory higher gas mileage on vehicles. They fight tighter emissions standards, they fight everything. 40 miles per gallon is not unrealistic for them. Lower speed limits work too(and helps in other areas too -accident rates etc.) I also told pat that I believe gas will easily be $7 a gallon by 2010 and 2 days later I read a report where the experts say the same thing. Does that make me an expert or what?
Ok I have to get a load of clothes out of the washer and put it in the dryer. Then start another load.
Life will be good if I have to kill to make it so.

Let me in! Anytime the door opens all the cats come running saying let me in! Feed me! Just let me in! Starting with the bottom right corn going counter clockwise is:Big Yellow, Fluff, Smokey, LittleBit (black&white), Buddy, Kitty Cat (plastered against the door) and Blackie. All I did was stick my hand out the door to take this picture. I have to be careful and not let my hand drop too low. Kitty Cat is wild and she will jump for my hand to get food out of it without looking to see if it is food or just a hand. Sometimes I think she thinks my hand IS food.

I have cats! LOL Yes indeed. First off is Susie. She is now the oldest. She is 11. We call her Queen Susie. She is the mother or grandmother of all my cats. She is not a social cat. She is rather regal except when she is playing. She loves playing with her babies. She is not a cuddle cat either but she does like to get in your lap and she will graciously allow you to rub her head.
She had a hard time making it to where she is now. When she scratched brook in the face when Brook was a baby I thought Pat was going to kill her. I did convince him that it was okay. It was so cute watching Susie and Brook grow up. Pat would be eating his breakfast ad feed hem both. I had to make him big breakfasts because he did not get to eat it all for himself. He looked like a bird feeding babies. brook would be standing there with her mouth open for a bite and Susie would have her paw on his leg reminding him that she wanted hers too. Now Susie had to have hers in order. She liked to have a bite of toast with egg on it and then a bite of bacon. To this day when Pat gets his food she is right there. It does not matter what it is she wants some. She might not eat it but she will not go away until she gets hers.
Susie is a forever mama. Just the other night a tomcat came into the yard and jumped one of my males. Susie came flying across the yard and bowled over that tom and she sent his fur flying and him too! No one messes with her babies! LOl Her baby is several years old and really does not need the protection of a tiny mother.

I have not been here in awhile. Every time I open the page I see Sebastian. I know that it sounds irrational but that is it. I wanted him t die here at home in peace but that was not to be. Since then I have not been exactly friendly to my other cats. It is nothing they have done except they are cats. Even Buddy is feeling it. He has not slept with me in a long time. He still gets in my lap and lays on my shoulder but it is different. I guess because I am different. I found myself shutting down real bad the last couple of weeks and I am having a hard time snapping out of it.I know it is not just losing my cat. It is not just the winter blues. I am lonely. I know that. I live out in the country with no neighbors to be friends with. I do not have a car or a bicycle to get around on. My family is scattered around and no one wants to be a family. They all have their own lives. I am not someone that makes friends. I do not know how. I never have known how. I tried all the usual things,:work,ball teams, clubs, church, bars,school. I met people but I never made friends. My journals are the only place I have ever had anybody actually care about me. Of course I could be fooling myself there also. If I am don't tell me. I really don't need to know.
I know this sounds like a pity post, woe is me. maybe it is. I will work it out. I will be okay.

Smokey is always good for a few laughs.Here he is playing king of the pole. I was worried that he would climb the tree instead. I guess because he sees trees all day long that a Christmas tree sitting on the porch meant nothing to him. Some one asked me if he has Siamese in him. Well I really do not know. His mama is a tortoise shell calico that I got from someone's barn and his daddy is a huge (possibly a Maine Coon mix) yellow tomcat that occasionally shows up. Big Yellow is the spitting image of Big Daddy. He does not have "the cry". He actually has a very soft, low, deep voice.

This is Smokey and Buddy. They have become good pals. Buddy was not happy to be sharing his rocker with Smokey. But Smokey just had to let him know that he loved him.

This is Smokey again showing how he Knows how to feed himself. Smokey will by no means go hungry. He is a sweetheart. As soon as I pick him up he starts to purr. He knows how to work his way into any body's heart fast. He is a mostly outdoor cat but is an indoor cat wanna be! Buddy beats up on him if he thinks that I am giving Smokey too much attention!

This is Pup and his box. He has a perfectly good dog house that is insulated. On a really bad day he goes in the barn. One day last week I put this box on the porch to take to the burn barrel. When I came back outside Pup was in it. I left it. That night when Pat got home Pup was still in it so he gave him a blanket. Last night he was happily sleeping in his box. This is Tiger. He decided that Pup needed company in his comfy box so he joined him. Pup did not mind. After all what are Buddies for?

This was this morning. Somehow or another Pup lost his comfy box. Word spread that a blanket was in a box and Pup was sharing.

Time for a new challenge to enjoy. :) Marie, author of the blog, "Photographs and Memories Too" submitted the challenge topic, "Black and White Landscape" during our recent challenge topic round-up, and I thought it sounded like a nifty idea. With the weather changing to rain and snow throughout the country, what better way to see the beauty in those cold days, then to get out with the camera and let the creative juices flow? Buddy is my favorite kitty of all of those that live here. He is soft and loving and mean at the same time. You can be holding him and he will be purring and licking your face , hand, whatever he can reach. Heavens forbid you get up. You can place him in the best place there is and he will turn real fast and swat at you! Gives you that look that says how dare you move! You leave me in your lap(shoulder, back, arms, where ever he is) until I decide to move!

This is Big Yellow. His daddy was Big Daddy. Big Yellow is actually kind of small except for one thing. That is not just a lot of hair. He weighs a ton! He is one solid cat. He is one of my outdoor cats that want to be indoors. Every once in a while I let him sleep inside for a bit. He will eat then get in a chair and go to sleep. Usually it is a chair that is pushed under the table. This time he felt bold enough to get up on the couch. He has really taken to Pat. He runs up to him when he sees him and demands his petting.

A few of my favorites things

On top of the couch is Sebastian. He is my 19 year old sweetie. He is starting to gain a bit of weight again. He is finally eating a whole can of cat food at a time without it going straight through him. He sleeps most of the time now.

Buddy, my sweet buddy, is a mess. If you are on the couch that means he gets to sleep on you.

Brook is my other sweetie. Sebastian has been sleeping with her since she was 5 weeks old. When she was a tiny baby he would sleep on her feet. As she got older and bigger he would stretch himself out along side of her. When he was a baby he used to sleep with HER mama.

On my 100th entry in this journal I present Pat and Buddy, my 2 lovedolls. Pat refers to Buddy as our adopted child. He does act like our baby. Last night for instance, Pat got home from work and came to bed. Not 5 minutes later here comes Buddy, walking over the top of us then wiggling down under our arms forsing us to move apart some. He then laid down between us and turned and gave both of us a lick on the face. He will not sleep alone. He has to be with one of us. We love our Buddy.

Cats can sleep anywhere! The tiger stripped cat on the back of the couch belongs to my niece. He is a total laid back kitty. He was born feline leukemia positive to a stray cat that she took in. This cat is only 3 months old in this picture. He is going to be a very big boy.

The siamese looking kitten and the tiger stripped laying on the porch are fullblooded brothers. Their names are Smokey and Tiger.
The fluffy yellow and the fluffy tiger stripped cats are brothers from the same litter. Sweethearts, both of them. Big Yellow and Fluff.
Susie is mama.I cannot figure out why she is taking this uncomfortable place to sleep!
I love my kitties and they love me. Sometimes it feels like they are the only ones that love me.

What a weekend. Pat and I went to check on the horses and Crystal let us know when we walked her by the stud that she was ready! He started sweet talking her and lordy I did not think Pat could hold her! Well we decided to take Precious over there and we got the opposite reaction. Precious almost pulled Pat's arms off trying to get back into the pasture away from the stud. This morning she was less anxious but she is NOT ready to breed. We will keep teasing her and the stud's owner will keep teasing her also. Hopefully soon she will be ready. If she will just relax more while the stud is talking to her then we will give her a shot to help bring her into heat. She is scared and I will not rush her. Crystal did mate yesterday. If she is pregnant then she is due July 13th 2008 give or take 10 days. I am excited!

horse, bo and other stuff

The horses have settled in over at the stud's place. They are not in a pasture with any other horses but the other horses can come up to the fence where they are. I go over there twice a day to check on them. I could never leave Precious anywhere again without seeing her every day.

School starts tomorrow. I cannot believe how early it is starting. Brook is not happy with who her teacher is, not because she has heard anything bad about her but because oon the supply list she lists needing another notebook in addition to the 2 she already needs. WOW. I have a feeling that there will be a lot of work! Her teacher is going to check and see if she can be tested to be in the gifted program. Once again her class will be in a trailor. Our area has grown so much that we have outgrown the school. I believe we have 10 trailors now. We are lucky at our school. The kids get regular PE, art, and computer classes. Music,unfortunately is not taught.

Has anybody tried those Air Wick micro air freshers? The one that gives a little puff every so often? I bought one and it does so much better than the scented oil plugins.

My weight loss class has ended. I have only lost 5 pounds but I feel so much better. Next month special weapons classes start. Brook is already signed up for it. Master Lee says I can sign up also. I am seriously considering it. It will be a class on using a bo staff. Now if I could be as good as this 8 YEAR OLD!!!

I need to get busy. I just spent the last couple hours reading journals!

I am back. I am not sure just what I accomplished by staying away from the computer. I did get some stuff done but not near enough. I just have to face it, I cannot manage my time properly! LOL. I have been shampooing carpet, putting a new roof on the barn (not done), washing clothes, scrubbing shower walls, ect ect. I do not seem to get ahead so I am back. I have a list in my notebook that is 6 pages long of things I want to get done and need to get done. I will do them, but I will not deprive myself of my pleasure again.
Everyone is doing good. Brook starts intense training in 1 week for her black belt test. This will be 3 months of working hard. Aug will be a month of special weapons training. She will be attending Tae Kwon Do classes 4 days a week. It is going to be double hard for her as school starts on Aug 2nd. She is going into 4th grade this year.On her school supply list it had a LARGE book bag listed. That tells me lots of homework!
The 6 babies chicks are thriving. They are still living in my living room but now I take the cage out in the daytime so they can get used to the outside temps. They still need to be protected so I cannot just turn them loose. I also cannot just put them in the pen. They can get out of it. I have a hen setting a nest again. These game hens think that is what they are supposed to do. She has a small nest because I have been raiding it every few days. She made it easy for me to find. It is in the doghouse. Poor Pup does not have a place to sleep now.
Spirit, the horse I was walking, is doing good. I am walking her again after 1 week off. Her owner decided she was depressed and needed to get out. LOL It gives me some pocket money.
Brook has been riding Precious a lot lately. I need to punch some holes so I can adjust my stirrups for her. Her legs are too long for her buddy stipups now. She needs her own saddle now. I think I just got an idea of what to get her for Christmas.
This weekend is going to be a full weekend. Saturday we are taking Crystal and Precious over to be bred. We are sure Crystal will breed but as for Precious.... Due to what happened last time, click here, and here This stud we are taking them to has a reputation for being gentle. They will never be in a pasture with him alone. They will be on a lead rope and so will he. They will only be 3 miles from home so I will be going there everyday. I will be feeding them while they are there. Cheaper! Mare care is $5 a day per horse.
That's it for now. I need to do something here. I will be staying and nothing is going to make me leave again!

Lori, you rock! Barngoddess of Ramblings from the Reservation is another straight shooting woman. She is never afraid to tell what bothers her, what she loves and who she loves. She has a heart as big as a horse.(she has a horse too!)

Krissy, you rock! Krissy of Sometimes I think is another strong woman. She is dealing with her husband devasating illness. She does it with a smile in her heart.

Kas, you rock! Kas of Hestia Homeschool for Young Wild Women, is another strong woman. She has endured so much pain and joy in her life. She is the wonderful mother of 3 very strong girls that push her to the limits!

LOL There are many others I read and love. It was very hard to narrow it down. I think we all rock in one way or another!

There are many more and if I could stay online all day I would be reading the whole time. Each and every journal or blog I read enriches my life in one way or another. It is amazing at how much you can get down BEFORE that first cup of caffeine, in my case hot tea.
I am horse sitting. This horse has to be confined to a stall because it is stupid. LOL Really it is. It ate a mulch pile and had to have it's guts pulled out and cleaned. MAJOR surgery! It has to be walked for 15-20 minutes every couple hours. That is what I normally do. I go over to where it lives and walk it during the day. Since Friday the horse has been here with me while its owner went fishing with her dad. This means early in the morning I have to get up and get the horse out of the stall and walk it. Not only that, I have to scoop poop and urine socked shavings out of the stall, soak 2 flakes of hay in water for 20 minutes, and empty and refill water bucket. I now remember why I hate locking a horse up in a stall.
After doing all that I then get me a cup of tea. I know if I get it before doing that stuff I will sit around and sip it and the day will just slip by me. Oh yea I also weeded in the garden for 30 minutes.

Sunday is one heck of a day for me. Sunday is Father's Day. When I was little we wore our rose to church and that was about it. For some reason Fathers are not celebrated as much as mothers are. I don't understand that. When I was growing up my Daddy meant the world to me. I looked forward to the time he would come home from work. He would sit in the chair in the corner of the living room and I would climb in his lap. Sometimes he would read the paper to me, other times we just watched the news. I always loved each moment. I remember one day Daddy had to be at church early, I rode with Mama and we dropped him off. I remember watching him run across the front into the church with his bible over his head as it started raining. When we got home the phone was ringing. Mama got all upset and left. Later they came home and my daddy was hurt. He had slipped on the tile floor and broke his arms. (I think Brook gets it from him). I used to miss the bus on purpose so he could take me to school. I remember riding the bus downtown and meeting him for lunch. I remember eating raw peanuts at his job and the cold freezer that the bananas were stored in( he worked at a produce house). I remember his pride when he bought Mama some new appliances and surprised her. I remember seeing him working into the night at the dining room table doing book work on the side to pay our bills.I learned how to use an adding machine from him. I learned my numbers from him. I remember him telling mama not to be so hard on me, that I was just a baby. I remember my brother telling me that Daddy treated me different. All I know is that I always felt safe and loved when I was with my daddy. My daddy has been gone 34 years now and I have missed him every day of that 34 years.

I can reach! I know I can reach it. Susie's babies are all over the place now. This little fellow here thought that the big bowl had to hold something better than the little bowl. So he decided to step in the bowl and check it out for himself! They are 7 weeks old now and discovering everything. Pretty soon they will find out what it means togo outside. I just cannot bring myself to take them out in the heat and they sleep while it is cool in the mornings.

The baby died tonight.When we got home from Taekwondo it was stretched out on Brook's floor.She burst into tears because she thought it was dead. I picked it up and it was still alive but you could tell that the end was near. I held the baby cupped in my hands so that it would die feeling loved and warm. It would gasp and look at me without seeing. I would rub her head with my thumb and she would turn to me. After about 30 minutes she crossed the rainbow bridge. She was so small. She fit entirely in one hand. I am glad that she did not have to go alone on a cold floor. She tried so hard to make it. She was drinking the milk that I gave her and still nursing. It hurts so much to see a little one go. If I had never tried to help it I would not be so upset. My emotions is the reason I can not work with patients anymore. I would die some each time I lost someone. It became personal.I tried, I really did try. I hate this. It killed me watching and hearing Brook sobbing. I had to hold my own tears for her. NOw they flow. I hate death sometimes. If it tears me up this bad over a kitten that I have only been helping for a few days, what will happen to me when it is Sebastian's turn? I have had him for 19 years now.

Today is a sad day . This little girl here is one of Susie's babies.It is dying this morning. It has been nursing but has not been gaining any weight. For the last couple of weeks I have noticed that there was something just not right with this baby. The eyes they say are a window and when I would look into her eyes it was like looking into nothing. I am not sure that is the right word. I just felt that something was just not right. I will be very surprised if it makes it beyond today.
On the other hand, the other two babies are growing strong and robust! One is like a little spit fire.It starts spitting at you whenever it sees you. The other will run up to you and sniff your foot or hand whichever is the closest. I love kittens. Their antics are so cute. I love watching them explore their new world. They should start following their mama into the kitchen now and trying out the food. They are 5 weeks old now and it is about time. This should be Susie'slast litter of kittens. I plan to get her fixed after this one. She is getting up there in the years and I want her to have a happy long life.

7 Random Things About Buddy

1. I am cross eyed. It does not to matter to me because I have always been that way. But when people look at me they laugh. I don't know why. I am not the one with 2 heads!
2. My mama's name was Miss Ugly. I can't understand that. I thought she was pretty.
3. I was born on tax day, April 15Th 2004. That was the same day that my person started her first blog on AOL which she still keeps.
4. I love to lay on my person. Actually I like to lay on anybody that will let me. I especially like to lay on your chest.
5. I wake my person up at 5 am everyday. I do not know why she gets mad at me and closes the door. I am hungry!
6. When I was a baby everybody thought I was a girl. I also had trouble walking because my mama feed me too much and both of my back feet would not touch the ground at the same time. I kind of hopped when I walked so they named me BUNNY. Silly people could not tell I was a boy!
7. My best friend is a dog. He is silly and I let him think he wins sometimes.

Mothers Day

Tomorrow is Mother's Day. Back when I was a little girl, I had nice memories of Mother's Day. We would get up on Sunday morning and have breakfast and get ready forchurch, usually wearing our Easter dresses. After that we would go out in the back yard to the rose bushes growing next to the old wooden fence. These were special bushes planted by my grandmother, old heirloom roses.Wewould look for our own special rose to wear. Red roses for everyone except daddy, he got a white one. You wore a red rose if your mama was alive and a white rose for if they were no longer with us. I was always amazed that the roses were blooming every year right on time. We would pin our roses on and then go to church. Some of the ladies at church would wear fancy rose corsages. I would see them and would wish out loud that I wish my mama had one. She told me that her was the sweetest. At church they would give out flowers plants for the oldest mama, the one with the most kids at church, the youngest mama(which I won one year), and the one with the youngest baby. After church we would come home to a meal that Mama had put in the oven before church. Afterwards we would just play or whatever. Mama would not go anywhere on that day until my oldest sister called. She would stay in the house because she might not hear the phone ring. Everytime it rang she would have someone get the phone. If it was not her she would look so sad. When the call finally came through she would be all smiles and laugh. (My next sister up laughs like my mama) I miss those times. Life was so much simpler, at least it was for me. I know now that it was not easy for them. I know it was a struggle for them. I was not exactly what they wanted for Mother's Day the year I was born. Life was supposed to start getting easier not harder. Life moved on. There were death and births. MOther's Day became a distant memory. I became a mother and no one celebrated with me, time passed and my baby became a mother. I made sure that her baby would have something for her mother every year. Then came the year when they were no longer together. I had my grandbaby with me and suddently Mother's Day became special. I had someone bringing me flowers and pictures and cards that she made. Now my daughter has her back again. She is the one to get the gifts now. And now finally after years of dreading the holiday, because something bad always happened around that time, my daughter is celebrating it with me. I wasted so many times that I could have spent with my mama. Not going to see her because I was ashamed of how my life was and other reasons that are truely meaningless as I look back. So many times I had wished I had never been born and now when I see Brook I know WHY I was born.

the baby and other stuff

The adopted baby of Susie did not make. It died sometime during the night. Susie took good care of it. The baby's fur was clean and slightly moist where she had cleaned it. You could see the lick marks on it. She cared for it as her own and grieved for it as her own.

Spirit came home today. My walking duties start tomorrow.I will be walking her twice a day for20 minutes each. She is doing well and seems happy to be home.

I need rain! My garden is so dry.

Cats on Tuesday

Buddy and I had a horrible experience this week. I was in the laundry room doing clothes. I got a load out of the dryer and folded them and put them up. I then came back in the room and pulled a load out of the washer and threw them in the dryer. It was a large load so it took serveral tosses to get the clothes in. It was a load of whites, socks and stuff. I turned the dryer on and left the room. After a few minutes I kept hearing thumping. I could not figure what was in the load and thought that somehow a shoe or something was in it. I pulled the dryer door open and saw in a flash my Buddy falling to the bottom of the dryer. his eyes were closed and there was no movement. I snatche him out crying. I knew that I had killed him. He was limp and hot and unresponsive. Within a minute he had his eyes open and was responding. I was terrified that he would have internal injuries. After a while he was almost his old self except for being jumpy when he heard a sound. Today he is felling good. A bit frisky and up to no good! I walked in the bedroom to find him laying on Pat's chest(he was sleeping) staring at him. Probably thinking that Pat needed to get up and rub his head!

Here he is telling me that I need to quit moving because I am disturbing his nap!

Make It From Scratch

This week Brook and I made rice krispty treats. I love those sticky gooey ones that are still warm! Brook had loads of fun. I let her do everything except take the melted marshmellows out of the microwave. I do not recommend the microwave for make these treats. They came out hard and dry. Stovetop is the way to go. She like them though!

Spirit update

Spirit is a silly horse. Apparently she thought that the mulch pile would be a good thing to eat. Horses cannot digest large amounts of bark. A horse has about 70 feet (22meters) of intestines. This horse has mulch throughout her entire gut! IT all had to be cleaned out. She also had some in her stomach. The stomach is a bad place. Horses cannot vomit, if they do their stomach usually ruptures. If this should happen the horse will die, violently. They could not open her stomach so it is being pumped every four hours until it is all out. She is not allowed to eat until it is gone. She will be in Knoxville until she is able to eat on her own ad has a normal bowel movement. After she is home she will have to be in a stall for the next 2 months allowed out only on a lead rope 3 times a day for 10 -15 minutes. She is in greatest danger of colicing again in the next 18 months, which could prove fatal next time. So I guess I have a summer job of walking a horse!

Update on Spirit

Spirit is doing well. She is in recovery. She did not twist a gut. Appartently she decided to eat the mulch pile which caused a huge blockage.

Horrible

Today is a horrible day for my daughter and her boss. Candy was watching Dee's horse and yesterday evening it became colicky. Candy was up all night with the horse. I spent all evening and all morning helping. We thought it was out of the woods, she was eating and passing gas. We walked that horse a long time. She and Johnny walked it all night. Yes the vet did come 3 times. Dee was in Florida. She drove all night to come home. This horse is her baby. This horse is in terrible danger right now. As I write Dee and Candy are on their way to Knoxville with the horse. That is the closest large animal hospital that can handle this. It is believed that her gut twisted. She is requiring emergency surgery. She may not make it The horse's name is Spirit. She is full of it. Pray that she can recover. Dee is taking this real hard. Last year when she went to Florida she had a horse get out and was killed when struck by a car.

The best thing I have seen this week was blessed rain. We are in a drought situation and we really need it.

Best thing I learned this week is to shut up when Pat gets unreasonable.

Life on the farm

Out in the world of blue skies and sunshine I work on our farm. This week I got a new tiller for my garden. Not just any old tiller but one that gets pulled by another machine not pushed by me! This is a great improvement! Every year it takes me close to a month to get my garden all tilled up with my walk behind tiller. In addition to that I get real sore and hurting. I tilled my garden in one day!!! I borrowed a four wheeler because our tractor is too high for the tiller. Next year I will have a bar to lower the connection on the tractor so I can use it instead. Last night Brook and I planted part of the garden. We put in 48 tomato plants and 23 bell pepper plants. In my small garden I have 16 broccoli plants and 16 Brussels sprout plants. I also have several heads of romaine lettuce. I have some jalapeno plants to go in the small garden also. This morning it rained on the garden and that is the best watering a plant can have.
Another thing I have been doing all week is mowing the fields. Monday I got the front section mowed, Tuesday I mowed the front field where the barn is, Wednesday I mowed the section next to the garden and this morning I mowed part of the lower back field. This section did not get mowed good last year and it has small trees and Brier bushes growing in it. This is a hard section to mow if it has rained because it is lower than the rest of the field. Years ago back in the early days, someone used to use our field for a landing strip so the middle gets boggy when it rains. Unfortunately I did not get to finish the mowing. My battery went dead on the tractor. I tested the alternator and it is putting out so I must have a bad wire somewhere and the battery is not charging. Yes, I do know how to do things like test alternators. As a necessary thing, I learned how to do a lot of things. It is called survival.

Cats on Tuesday

Last week on the 15th Susie gave me 3 beautiful kittens. The white one is getting points now. It has been awhile since she has given birth to one with dark points. Their eyes are starting to open now and they are moving about. She moved them out of the box and placed them beside the dresser.She lays up on the bed and keeps a watchful eye on all 4 of her babies. Wait did I say 4? Yes I did. Little Bit, one of the barn cats dropped her kittens on Saturday. I really mean she dropped them. Saturday, before leaving for Brook's Tae Kwon Do demonstration for the talent competition. I put a cat out the back door and saw a tiny black kitten laying on the porch. It was not moving. I picked it up and it was so cold that I thought it was dead. It moved as it felt the warmth of my hands. I was so angry. I knew she had abandoned this baby. I took it into where Susie was and placed it under her nose. She looked at the baby and looked at me. After a few times of this she licked the baby on the head. I then placed it on the floor with her. She started licking it and warming it up. I was not sure of what was going to become of this baby. Later that day after the show, I checked on the baby and it was nursing! I was so proud of Susie. She took on this baby and made it her own. It is smaller than the others but catching up rapidly. There is a week's age difference so it should be smaller.
I now nominate Susie for Mother of the Year.

Tackle it Tuesday

My tackle it this week was the dreaded pile in the bedroom. This pile was on the love seat which has finally found its way back into the living room. This pile has been accumulating since last year on the love seat. Time to get rid of it! I could not get this all done in one day as I had to find places to put all this lovely stuff. The job is done and this spot will be my temporary sewing point! The basket under the table has stuff that needs to be sewed. The gold box has my sewing supplies in it. The box with the propped up lid has baby kittens in it that were born Sunday.
